Campers new to programming discover the basics using event-driven coding in our Scratch Programming Camp. They are challenged to think creatively and code their own stories, games, and/or animations. Created by a collaboration between Google and MIT, the scratch programming environment is a perfect start for younger programmers as it is specifically designed for young learners. But do not be fooled – Scratch coding can also be quite challenging. Block-based programming enables beginner programmers to focus their mental energy on the design and logic of their programs, not the semantics.
Why choose Scratch coding camp?
Opening your child’s eyes to the world of creative coding using Scratch, a program that helps kids visualize and then craft code, helps your child obtain a basic understanding of programming. This camp helps ignite the interest in the creative possibilities of programming, including games, animations, and interactive stories. We will closely guide and monitor campers, helping them to establish their first connections with the wonderful online world of coding.
Campers will also benefit from Rideau’s facilities and participate in a variety of physical activities including trampoline, tumbling and stretching.
