Competitive Acrobatics

Cristina Chirila is super excited to introduce our new Acrobatics program to Rideau this year, with the help of choreographer Irina Shivrina! Acrobatic gymnastics is a competitive discipline performed only on floor and consists of artistic gymnastics, dance, as well as elements of Cirque du Soleil. Athletes will learn and improve their strength, flexibility and agility while learning the basics of acrobatic. Acrobatics is practiced in pairs or groups of individuals of all genders and abilities. It is very inclusive, as there are no limitations of who can participate in this wonderful sport. Overall, acrobatic gymnastics includes choreographed balance routines with focus on strength and flexibility and dynamic routines which includes tumbling, throws and catching. To conclude we can say that Acrobatic gymnastics is an expressive, dynamic and spectacular sport for women and men.
