ADVANCED GYMNASTICS
An advanced recreational gymnastics class differs from an interclub or regular class in artistic gymnastics by offering a less competitive and more flexible approach, allowing participants to focus on more skill development, personal progress, and enjoyment without the intense pressure of formal competitions or stricter training schedules.
An assessment is required to join this program, and it will utilize the Gymnastics Canada badge system and provide badge(level) assessments. This Advanced Recreational Class is an annual program with the schedule and coach set for the year. Two classes per week are recommended, the option of one class is possible as an exception. Advanced classes will cover all of the events: vault, uneven bars, balance beam, floor, and trampoline (Jr gym may also include the jr rings and jr parallel bars).
JUNIOR GYM 1 ADVANCED (CO-ED)
1.5 hr class
Ages: 5-6
2x / week recommended
This developmental class is for children who’ve demonstrated proficiency in their kindergym or junior gym classes and are looking for more physical and mental challenges and for kids who show a budding love for gymnastics. Children joining this program need to be able to follow instructions, work independently, and have begun to master many basic artistic gymnastics skills (eg. hollow body roll, front-stride-back support, 2 foot jumps over, up, off objects, and elevated wall support to roll). Those working on their Bronze-Purple Badges or those who’ve been recommended by their coaches are good candidates for this class.
Please contact recreational@rideaugymnastics.org for an assessment or more info prior to registration.
Prerequisites: chin-up hold, pike hold on bars, handstand to a bridge.
SENIOR GIRLS ADVANCED

These classes will progress through skills such as; back/ front handsprings and tucks, back hip circles and kips on bars, handstands or walkovers and handsprings on beam.
