Our Co-ed artistic gymnastics classes follow the CanGym program focusing on dominant movement patterns such as landings, locomotions, rotations, springs, and swings. Students will use all events (men’s and women’s) to learn basics and develop a full range physical fitness including strength, balance, and coordination. These classes are an hour in length and follow a structured format which includes a warm-up and a rotation on 3 of the events per class, depending on the teaching theme for the week. Our themes come from the dominant movement patterns in the CanGym program which we use to guide and evaluate skill progression. Choose from our “Active” stream classes for fun, fitness, and fundamentals or our “Excel” stream, for a more challenging and focused gymnastics experience.
“ACTIVE” Stream (1-hour class)
Our “Active” stream classes are centered around the principals of Fun, Fitness, and Fundamentals. Children are engaged with games, varied circuits and stations, exciting equipment like the Tumble Trak and Trampoline and an encouraging atmosphere. All classes begin with a warm-up and stretching exercises followed by physical activities that help teach strength, flexibility, and coordination. Students will work their way through the skill progressions and levels of the CanGym system, which all of our recreational classes follow.
“EXCEL” Stream (1.5-hour class)
Our ”Excel” stream classes are geared towards children who are ready for more challenge and focus in their gymnastics classes. These classes will be structured similarly to “Active” stream classes however extra attention will be paid to proper form, technique and laying the foundation for future skill development. Students in the “Excel” stream will be encouraged to “work” at skill development through repetition of basics, following instructions and persistence. “Excel” stream classes follow the CanGym program.
